Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea fans about January transfers

Antonio Conte says Chelsea are working hard to see if they can bring in some new players in January

Antonio Conte has told Chelsea fans that the club are working on the possibility of bringing in some new players in the January transfer window.

The Blues headed into 2017 flying high at the top of the Premier League table after a stunning run of form under their new boss following his appointment in the summer.

Chelsea have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season following their brilliant start under Conte.

The west London club’s upturn in form is in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when they ended up 10th in the table and without a trophy.

There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Chelsea with a number of players now that the January transfer window has opened.

And although Conte admits that it is harder to bring in the right players in January than the summer, the Chelsea boss says the Blues will do business if they can.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website before their clash with Stoke on Saturday, Conte said: “In January it is always very difficult to buy because every team thinks to keep their best players, not to sell.

“But with the club we are thinking about the best way to face the rest of the season. For sure we are thinking about our situation and our squad.

‘When you have a good group, a new player can arrive into the group in a simple way, and for sure we have sold Oscar and we have money to spend, but it is important to spend money in the right way.

“I prefer to buy players adapted to our system that can come into our team and pass, but I repeat, it is not easy in January to find these type of players but with the club, we are working on this aspect.”
