Antonio Conte has warned his Chelsea players to expect a tough game against Liverpool after the Premier League leaders booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday evening.
The west London side eased to a 4-0 win against Championship side Brentford to extend their winning run to four games in all competitions ahead of their long trip to Merseyside on Tuesday night.
Willian broke the deadlock before Pedro Rodriguez continued his goal-scoring run in the FA Cup with the west London side’s second goal before Branislav Ivanovic netted what could be his last goal for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi added a fourth from the penalty spot with nine minutes remaining to complete the rout as the Blues scored four goals in successive FA Cup games.
Liverpool, meanwhile, lost their third successive game following a 2-1 defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Speaking to Bein Sports after Chelsea’s 4-1 win, Conte warned his players to expect a tough fixture at Liverpool despite the Reds’s poor run.
“I am pleased and very happy for the commitment from my team. It is important to see that all the players in the squad and involved in the project,” Conte said.
“It was important to go to the next round and to think about the next game at Liverpool – a tough game.”
