Arsenal legend expecting big things from Marcus Rashford at Man United
Alan Smith is expecting Marcus Rashford to continue to develop into a top player at Manchester United
Alan Smith is expecting Marcus Rashford to develop into a top player at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.
The teenager first burst onto the scene under Louis van Gaal last season as he earned plenty of new admirers for his brilliant form for the Red Devils.
Rashford is now getting used to life under new boss Mourinho following the Portuguese coach’s appointment at Old Trafford in the summer.
The youngster made a telling impact for the Red Devils on Monday afternoon as he came off the bench to set up Manchester United’s opener in their 2-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League.
And Arsenal legend Smith believes that there is plenty more to come from Rashford at Manchester United this season and beyond.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Monday’s win, Smith said: “Rashford is only 19 years of age still.
“He has that composure – when he gets into those positions, he’s got the presence of mind to lift his head and pick out the pass.
“It’s been difficult for him. He burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory last year, he’s had to be patient now.
“He has got the temperament to cope. When he’s interviewed, you can see he’s very level-headed.
“He’s going to be a tremendous player.”
Manchester United’s next Premier League game is a crunch clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford on 15 January.
