Arsene Wenger states his prediction for Arsenal v Crystal Palace
Arsene Wenger looks ahead to Arsenal's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday
Arsene Wenger has warned his Arsenal team that they will be in for a stern test when they take on Crystal Palace at The Emirates on New Year’s Day.
The Gunners are preparing to take on the Eagles at home following Sam Allardyce’s appointment as the club’s new manager last month.
Arsenal head into the game on the back of their 1-0 win over West Brom on Boxing Day as they returned to winning ways following their defeats by Manchester City and Everton.
Wenger is expecting Palace to be well organised at the back and also pose an attacking threat through the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend as he warned his side that they must be ready for a battle.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website ahead of the game, Wenger said: “When you face an experienced manager, you should not speculate on any weakness of your opponents, just focus on your strengths and your desire and the way you want to play the game because they will be well prepared and well organised.
“Everyone starts on the same level again with a new manager. So for a while there is an impact and I think Allardyce has enough experience to make the right decisions.
“You expect Palace to defend well against us, they have as well some strong offensive power because they have Benteke, Zaha who is in good form at the moment, Townsend is playing, so we will need again to have a go and to defend well.
“They have a good offensive threat so for us it will be very important to find that balance.”
Arsenal are aiming to go one better this season and win the Premier League title after their disappointing second-placed finish last term.
