Ian Wright states prediction for Arsenal v Crystal Palace

The Gunners legend is backing Arsenal to beat Crystal Palace on New Year's Day

Ian Wright is tipping Arsenal to ease to a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on New Year’s Day.

The Gunners made a much-needed return to winning ways on Boxing Day after Arsene Wenger’s side edged to a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion thanks to Olivier Giroud’s late winner.

Arsenal started the Premier League weekend in fourth place and nine points behind leaders Chelsea after losing two of their last three top-flight outings after defeats at Everton and Manchester City.

The north London side went 14 games unbeaten following their 4-3 loss to Liverpool at The Emirates in their opening game of the season before a 2-1 reversal against Everton at Goodison Park.

Speaking on The Sun Goals podcast ahead of Arsenal’s home clash against the Eagles, Wright felt that Wenger’s side were capable of edging to victory against Sam Allardyce’s men.

“It’s a game Arsenal will feel they should be winning,” Wright said.

“They struggled against West Brom but they kept going. That will give them encouragement. This is going to be a similar type of game.”

Wright added: “I’ll go for an Arsenal win because of how they beat West Brom and they’ll have to do the same in this game. I’ll for a 1-0 win.”
