Arsene Wenger makes claim about Chelsea: This makes a huge difference

Arsene Wenger says Chelsea are benefitting significantly from their lack of European football this season

Arsene Wenger has claimed that Chelsea have a huge advantage over most of their Premier League title rivals because of their lack of European football this season.

The Blues suffered a blow to their Premier League title hopes on Wednesday night when they were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Dele Alli scored either side of half-time to wrap up the three points for the Lilywhites and send Chelsea crashing to their first defeat in 13 Premier League games.

Despite the defeat, Chelsea are still leading the way at the top of the Premier League table and are five points clear of second-placed Liverpool.

Both the Blues and Liverpool have the bonus of not having to worry about European football this season.

And Wenger feels that presents the Blues with a significant advantage in the Premier League title race this season.

Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning, Wenger said: [Chelsea] have the same team, which is easier for them because they don’t play in Europe.

“That makes a huge difference, so they have one game per week and therefore the stability in their squad is easier to have.”
