Arsene Wenger comments on Tottenham form after win over Chelsea
Arsene Wenger delivers his verdict on Tottenham's 2-0 win over Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon
Arsene Wenger admitted that he was impressed by Tottenham’s display as they beat Tottenham 2-0 at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.
The Lilywhites became the fist team to beat Chelsea in 13 Premier League games as two goals from Dele Alli handed Mauricio Pochettino’s side victory.
The result has given the rest of the Premier League’s title challengers hope of catching Spurs in the race for the top-flight title.
And Wenger admitted that he was impressed by what he saw from Spurs when they tackled Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.
Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “It was a very competitive and tight game.
“It was based a lot on organisation, desire not to lose at the start because it was a big game. In the end, like many times before, a goal just before half-time played a big psychological part in the second half.
“It was a tight game but Tottenham could take the advantage from two great headers from Dele Alli, from two great crosses from Eriksen.”
Wenger’s Arsenal side are currently eight points behind leaders Chelsea, while Tottenham are seven points adrift of Antonio Conte’s pace-setters.
Arsenal, who drew 3-3 with Bournemouth this week, are currently gearing up for their FA Cup third-round clash against Preston North End at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
