Arsene Wenger gives update on Mesut Ozil to Arsenal supporters

Arsene Wenger does not expect to see Mesut Ozil feature for Arsenal against Preston North End on Saturday

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil will be assessed by the Arsenal doctor this week after his recent bout of illness.

The Germany international has been out of action since Boxing Day after picking up a bug and has missed Arsenal’s last two games due to the problem.

Ozil is also expected to be unavailable when Arsenal take on Preston North End in the FA Cup third round at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.

And Wenger admitted that he was waiting for an update on Ozil’s condition as Arsenal prepared for their cup clash at their home ground.

Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “Ozil is coming in today and will be assessed by the doctor.

“He has been out for two weeks in bed and I can’t imagine he’ll be involved.”

Arsenal battled back from three goals down to earn a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
