Arsene Wenger opens up about Alex Iwobi at Arsenal this season

Arsene Wenger praises Alex Iwobi for his impact in the Arsenal team this season

Arsene Wenger has praised Alex Iwobi for showing maturity beyond his years since breaking into the Arsenal first team.

The midfielder was involved in all three of Arsenal’s second-half goals at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Gunners secured an impressive 4-0 win over Swansea in the Premier League.

Iwobi has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the first team at Arsenal and is regarded as one of the north London club’s most promising young players.

And Wenger has been delighted by what he has seen from the Nigeria international in recent weeks.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website after Saturday’s win, Wenger said: “He is more and more comfortable in the team. But I think Alex Iwobi, above all his talent, is a guy who has a fantastic team attitude.

“He is gaining in confidence as well. You could see overall that he develops very well. If he keeps that kind of spirit he has at the moment, he can go much higher up. That’s my wish.”

The victory left Arsenal in third place in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title.
