Arsene Wenger rates Chelsea’s Premier League title chances after Tottenham loss

Arsene Wenger says Chelsea still look comfortable in the race for the Premier League title this season

Arsene Wenger has claimed that Chelsea still look “comfortable” in the Premier League title race despite the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The west London side headed into their clash with Spurs having won their last 13 games on the spin in the top flight to leave them as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Dele Alli scored a header either side of half-time to wrap up victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s men and halt Chelsea’s run.

The Blues are still leading the way at the top of the Premier League table and are currently five points clear of second-placed Liverpool.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are eight points behind the Blues, while Tottenham are third and seven points adrift of Antonio Conte’s pace-setters.

However Arsenal boss Wenger feels that Chelsea are still the clear favourites to win the title this season.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday morning, Wenger said: “It looks like Chelsea are still quite comfortable but when you’re interrupted in a series of wins, it always raises hope for others.

“It means you have to restart again. I think it’s an open league. The second part of the championship starts now.

“We know that January until May is the moment of truth for everybody. Who will come out of this race on top? It’s very difficult to predict at the moment.”
