Arsene Wenger reacts to Hector Bellerin’s display for Arsenal at Bournemouth
Arsene Wenger comments on Hector Bellerin's display for Arsenal against Bournemouth on Tuesday night
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Hector Bellerin was suffering from a minor injury before Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth.
The north London side headed into the game looking to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea but ended up falling three goals behind.
However, goals from Alexis Sanchez, Lucas Perez and Oliver Giroud in the second half handed Arsenal a point in the Premier League title race.
The result was still a disappointment for the Gunners as they failed to close the gap to Chelsea ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Bellerin was at fault for Charlie Daniels’ opener as he failed to close down the Bournemouth man in the box.
However, Arsenal boss Wenger revealed that Bellerin had been suffering from a minor injury problem before the game due to the hectic schedule in the Premier League.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Wenger said: “He had a knock, he was uncertain to play. That’s the problem when you have only 48 hours, you have to play some players who come out of a game like Crystal Palace [with knocks].
“We had three or four players who we had to wait for the warm up to see if they could play.”
Arsenal finished second last season.
