Arsene Wenger singles out Lucas Perez for special praise after Arsenal's three-goal comeback against Bournemouth
Arsene Wenger singled out Lucas Perez for special praise after the Spanish striker came off the bench to inspire Arsenal to a three-goal comeback against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Arsenal found themselves 3-0 down shortly after half-time at the Vitality Stadium but Alexis Sanchez’s header pulled a goal back for the Gunners.
Lucas was introduced in the second half at Bournemouth and repaid his manager’s faith in him by scoring a superb volley to make it 3-2.
The comeback was then complete when Olivier Giroud netted late on to secure a point for the north London side.
Wenger was disappointed that his team were not able to claim all three points but was delighted by summer signing Lucas’ performance against Eddie Howe’s men.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website after the game, Wenger said: “I thought Lucas came on and had an exceptional game.
“I think Lucas scored an exceptional goal of pure class.”
Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their FA Cup third-round clash against Preston North End as they look to get back to winning ways.
