Arsene Wenger sends message to Arsenal fans about Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck is looking fit and sharp as he closes in on a comeback for Arsenal, Arsene Wenger says

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck is looking fit and sharp in training as he closes in on a comeback for Arsenal.

The England striker is yet to feature for the north London side this season following his lengthy lay-off with a serious knee injury suffered towards the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Welbeck, however, has recently returned to training with the Gunners as he closes in on a comeback in Arsenal’s first team.

Wenger has revealed that he has not yet decided on the best course of action to bring Welbeck back into his team but admitted that he has been very encouraged by what he has seen from the striker in training.

Speaking to Arsenal’s website ahead of Sunday’s game with Crystal Palace, Wenger said: “He’s fit, he’s sharp.

“Will I involve him in the short-term or not, or will I play him first in a game with the under-23s? I have not decided yet, but in training he looks quite good.”
