Paul Merson states his prediction for Bournemouth v Arsenal
Paul Merson looks ahead to Arsenal's trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday night
Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League by beating Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night.
The north London side head into the game looking to build on their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon as goals from Olivier Giroud and Alex Iwobi secured victory for Arsene Wenger’s men.
That win lifted Arsenal up into third place in the table but still left them nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
The Gunners know that a victory over Bournemouth would temporarily cut the gap to Chelsea down to six points before the Blues’ trip to Tottenham on Wednesday night.
And former Arsenal star Merson is tipping the Gunners to get the job done against the Cherries on Tuesday night.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “Bournemouth gave Arsenal a right good game when they met at the Emirates a few weeks ago, but I’ve got to go for Arsenal to win here.
“As I’ve said a lot in these predictions, teams in the Premier League need to win matches and draws are no good and if Arsenal don’t win this they will be fighting for top four, never mind top spot.
“With Jack Wilshere not able to play I will go for a narrow Arsenal win – it will be hard for them, though.”
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season.
