Charlie Nicholas: Why this player will score a hat-trick for Liverpool v Plymouth

The former Arsenal midfielder is backing Divock Origi to score a hat-trick when Liverpool host Plymouth in the FA Cup

Charlie Nicholas is tipping Divock Origi to score a hat-trick when Liverpool host Plymouth in the FA Cup third round at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Belgium international scored four times in five games in the Premier League to help Liverpool cope in the absence of their number 10 Philippe Coutinho.

However, Origi dropped to the bench for the visit of Manchester City on New Year’s Eve as Liverpool eased to a 1-0 win against Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp opted against starting the Belgium international on Monday afternoon as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Premier League strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

However, former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Origi will start against Plymouth and is backing the centre-forward to score a hat-trick in a 4-0 win the FA Cup third-round encounter.

“I don’t like to say it, but it is a nice pay day for Derek Adams’ team and not very much else,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool will make plenty of changes and give a few youngsters a chance and, without showing any disrespect, they’ve got enough quality to come in and still make this a comfortable day.

“I actually fancy a hat-trick in this one and I’m backing Divock Origi to get one. He was in good form before being dropped and will be desperate to prove his point.”

Origi moved to Liverpool from Ligue 1 side Lille in a £12m deal after the 2014 World Cup.
