Chelsea have been left disappointed after Atalanta rejected their £27m offer for Franck Kessie, according to reports.
The Daily Star are reporting that the Blues submitted a bid for the highly-rated Ivory Coast international but the offer has been rebuked by the Serie A outfit.
The same article states that Chelsea offered a sum of £21m up front followed by a series of add-ons that would have taken the transfer fee to £27m.
The story goes on to add that the Premier League leaders are facing stiff competition for the midfielder’s signature from a host of English clubs.
Chelsea have made an impressive start to the 2016-17 Premier League campaign after winning 15 of their last 16 top-flight outings.
