Chelsea have entered the race to sign Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez ahead of their Premier League title rivals Arsenal, according to reports.
The Sun are reporting that Chelsea have looked to beat their London rivals to the signing of the highly-rated Switzerland defender in the January transfer window.
The same story states that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on the Wolfsburg man as the Gunners boss eyes potential signings to bolster his defence.
Rodriguez has been utilised as a full-back throughout most of his professional career which would suit Conte’s 3-4-3 formation, with Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses playing at left and right wing-back.
The same article states that Rodriguez commands a price tag in the region of £21m.
The Swiss defender has scored two goals and has made two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances so far this term.
Chelsea have kept 10 clean sheets in their last 13 Premier League games to leave Conte’s men well clear at the top of the table.
The Blues will take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.
