Chelsea will definitely make this January signing, claims pundit

Clinton Morrison is expecting to see Chelsea sign a new central defender in the January transfer window

Chelsea will definitely look to sign a new central defender in the January transfer window, according to Clinton Morrison.

The Blues have firmly established themselves as the favourites to win the Premier League title this season under new boss Antonio Conte.

The west London side have been the Premier League’s top performing team in recent weeks and have earned plenty of new admirers for their impressive form in the top flight.

Chelsea do not have the distraction of European football this season but the Blues are likely to want to bolster their squad during the mid-season transfer window.

And former Premier League star Morrison feels that Chelsea are sure to try and bring in a new defender in the January window.

Speaking to Sky Sports before Chelsea’s trip to Tottenham on Wednesday night, Morrison said: “I think he will strengthen at centre-half. They have got John Terry and Kurt Zouma coming back but he hasn’t played a lot of football.

“So I think he wants an out-and-out centre half who can head it and do all the dirty stuff for the other players to play around him.

“So I think he will definitely strengthen there.”
