David De Gea opens up about his Man United future
The Manchester United goalkeeper appears to be very happy at Old Trafford
David De Gea has reiterated that he is very happy at Manchester United.
The Spain international has continued his excellent performances under new manager Jose Mourinho this term after he was named the club’s player of the season for a third successive campaign in April 2016.
De Gea has helped the Red Devils keep the third-best defensive record in the Premier League this term behind leaders Chelsea and title rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old came close to moving to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2015 summer transfer window before a deal fell through on transfer deadline day in Spain.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website ahead of the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Thursday night, De Gea hinted about his long-term future at the club.
“I feel really well on the pitch. I’m really happy to play for United and Spain and I’m feeling very strong on the pitch. I need to keep this level until the finish of the season,” De Gea said.
Manchester United won the FA Cup last season after a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace in the final at Wembley.
The Red Devils goalkeeper will be hoping to win the League Cup for the first time this season.
