David Luiz reveals why he opted to re-join Chelsea, sets target for the season

David Luiz is desperate to help Chelsea win the Premier League title in his first season back at the club

David Luiz has revealed that the chance of winning his first Premier League title was the main motivation behind his summer return to Chelsea.

The Brazil international opted to move back to Stamford Bridge in the summer after the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s new manager.

Luiz had previously been deemed to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea by former boss Jose Mourinho as he was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in 2014.

The defender has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea team so far this season and has also been one of the west London club’s top performers this term.

Chelsea are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table as they prepare for their trip to Leicester City on Saturday night.

And Luiz is determined to help the Blues win the Premier League title this season.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN Brazil, Luiz said: “I love this club and I saw that if I came back it was because there was a story to continue.
