Dejan Lovren sends message to Liverpool stars about catching Chelsea

Dejan Lovren discusses how he and his Liverpool team-mates are feeling in the Premier League title race

Dejan Lovren has urged his Liverpool team-mates to focus only on their own performances as the race for the Premier League title hots up.

The Reds have been one of the Premier League’s top performing teams this season and have earned plenty of admirers for their free-flowing attacking football under new boss Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are currently in second place in the top-flight table as they look to catch Chelsea in the race for the top flight crown.

The Merseyside outfit, like Chelsea, do not have the distraction of European football this season as they focus purely on domestic affairs.

Lovren has reminded his team-mates that there is still a long way to go in the race for the Premier League title and feels that Liverpool should be focused purely on their own performances in the wake of their disappointing 2-2 draw with Sunderland on Monday.

Lovren is quoted as saying by The Liverpool Echo: “It felt like a defeat, especially after beating Manchester City.

“But we have to keep our heads high. A point is better than nothing.

“There is still half a season to go. There are so many games in front of us and in front of Chelsea.

“We just have to concentrate on ourselves.

“We will have more ups and downs throughout the season. We need to learn from the mistakes we made against Sunderland.

“I’d prefer we took the three points and reduced that gap by more but we need to keep moving on.

“We have some really big games in front of us. I’d say we like to play against the big teams. There’s a lot to play for.”
