Diego Costa explains angry exchange with Pedro in Tottenham v Chelsea
Diego Costa has moved to play down the significance of his angry exchange with Pedro during Chelsea's loss to Tottenham
Diego Costa has played down his disagreement with Pedro Rodriguez during Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.
Costa and Pedro were pictured having an angry-looking exchange during the first half of the Premier League clash in north London.
Dele Alli scored a header either side of half-time as Tottenham became the first team to beat Chelsea in 13 games in the Premier League.
It turned out to be a frustrating evening for Chelsea as Spurs claimed all three points to reignite the Premier League title race.
However, Costa has moved to play down his disagreement with Pedro in the wake of the defeat by Spurs.
Spanish striker Costa is quoted as saying by Metro: “Nothing happened. We have a great understanding with each other.
“When you have a trusted relationship and intimacy with a team-mate it is normal for these things to happen.
“It was just a moment during the game, and that’s it. It was nothing.
“I told him: ‘You have to get in there, why didn’t you go?’ He said ‘I went’ and I said he didn’t. That’s it.
“Pedro is my brother and we love each other.”
Chelsea’s defeat cut the Blues’ lead at the top of the Premier League table down to five points, and left Spurs seven points adrift of the leaders in the top flight table.
