Divock Origi: This is how Liverpool must respond to title-race setback

Divock Origi has urged his Liverpool team-mates to make the most of their opportunities in the title race

Liverpool must make the most of their opportunities following their setback in the title race at Sunderland, says Divock Origi.

The Merseyside outfit twice squandered a lead to draw 2-2 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Monday afternoon.

Liverpool missed out on the chance to move to within three points of Premier League leaders Chelsea ahead of the Blues’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side can take encouragement from their seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League ahead of their trip to bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday 15 January.

Speaking to Liverpool’s website after their disappointing stalemate at Sunderland earlier this week, Origi had a message for his team-mates ahead of their home clash against Plymouth in the FA Cup this weekend.

“As a team you have to bounce back from disappointments, because we know it’s a long season and we have to make the most of the opportunities that will come our way,” Origi said.

“The result at Sunderland was disappointing because we could have come out of it with more points. We’re not really happy about it and we will analyse what happened.”

Origi has scored five goals and has made one assist in 17 appearances in the Premier League this season, although the Belgian forward has only started five times.
