Emmanuel Adebayor: What I really think about Arsenal this season
Emmanuel Adebayor delivers his verdict on what he has seen from Arsenal so far this season...
Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that Arsenal are too reliant on Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil this season.
The duo are widely regarded as the north London side’s top players and the pair are believed to be in talks with the Gunners about the possibility of extending their contracts at The Emirates beyond the summer of 2018.
Sanchez has been a key figure for Arsenal this season and has already scored more than 10 goals for the north London side in the Premier League.
Ozil, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top playmakers since his arrival in England from Real Madrid in 2013.
However, former Arsenal star Adebayor feels that the Gunners could end up being too reliant on the pair at The Emirates.
Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, Adebayor said: “At Arsenal I reached a time when everything I was doing turned into goals.
“We all have that – the one, two or three years where you are right at the top. We should have done it that year, but missed some experience and the team was quite young.
“Arsenal have a good team but if Sanchez gets injured I don’t know who they’ve got. If you look at Chelsea, when Hazard gets injured they’ve got Willian; if Willian gets injured they can still play Moses further forward.
“Arsenal’s problem is that today they are just Ozil and Sanchez. If one of them gets injured, it is a problem.”
Arsenal are currently gearing up for their FA Cup clash against Southampton in the fourth round next weekend.
