Eric Bailly sends heartfelt message to Man United fans ahead of January departure
Eric Bailly is now set to report to his national ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations...
Eric Bailly has taken to social media to wish all of his followers a happy new year as he prepares to leave Manchester United and link up with the Ivory Coast squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ivorian defender played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford on Saturday as Manchester United came from a goal down to earn a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough and make it five wins in a row in the Premier League.
Bailly has been a central figure in the Manchester United team since his arrival from Villarreal in the summer transfer window and his absence is set to be felt by the Red Devils in the coming weeks while he is on international duty.
However, the 22-year-old used his personal Instagram account to send a message to his followers after Manchester United’s 2-1 win on Saturday.
Bailly posted the picture above on the app and wrote the caption: “It has been a year full of dreams come true. 😄 I wish you a very Happy New Year! 🎉”
Manchester United take on West Ham United on Monday but Bailly will have already joined up with his national side before then, much to the annoyance of Jose Mourinho.
“Bailly goes to the national team. He has to be in the national team on the 2nd of January. We asked them for him to be [there] on the 3rd,” Mourinho told Metro.
“They refused, so he cannot play against West Ham.
“I wish Ivory Coast to be champions because with these kind of decisions it’s because they are controlling every second, so for sure they are going to win the African Cup.”
