Ex-defender reacts to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s display in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Man United
Rob Jones has his say on Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance at Manchester United
Rob Jones has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp handed Alexander-Arnold a surprise spot in his starting line-up after Nathaniel Clyne missed the trip to their bitter rivals due to a rib injury.
The 18-year-old was tasked with keeping £36m forward Anthony Martial quiet as Manchester United looked to record a tenth successive Premier League win.
However, Alexander-Arnold acquitted himself well as the Liverpool youngster managed to keep Martial largely quiet despite the France international’s superior experience.
Jones made his Liverpool debut in similar circumstances when he started at right-back and was tasked with keeping Ryan Giggs quiet at Old Trafford in a goalless draw in 1992.
The ex-Liverpool defender, who has worked as a youth coach for the Anfield outfit, was well-placed to deliver his verdict on Alexander-Arnold’s performance.

Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the title race.
