Ex-midfielder makes claim about Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Man United
Dietmar Hamann talks up the impact that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has made at Manchester United this season
Dietmar Hamann has claimed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has played a key role in reversing Manchester United’s fortunes in recent weeks.
The Armenia international initially struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Mkhitaryan has been one of the Red Devils’ standout performers at Old Trafford in recent weeks and has earned plenty of praise for his displays.
And former Liverpool midfielder Hamann believes that Mkhitaryan has played a key role in helping Manchester United find their best form under Jose Mourinho.
Writing in his column for Paddy Power before Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, Hamann said: “Mkhitaryan has been a key man in United’s changing fortunes.
“He’s played a far greater role in the league since the end of November, scoring against Sunderland and bagging the winner at home to Tottenham, and in that time United have won six and drawn two in the league.
“He’s been excellent playing just off Ibrahimovic and has helped shape United’s style of football.”
Manchester United signed Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly in the summer following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the club’s new manager.
The Red Devils finished fifth in the Premier League and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
