Ex-midfielder makes confident Arsenal prediction about Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez
Ray Parlour is confident that Arsenal will get deals done for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil
Ray Parlour is confident that Arsenal will reach a compromise with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez leading to the pair signing new contracts to stay at The Emirates.
Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho put pen to paper on a new deal which will reportedly keep the Brazil international at the Merseyside club until 2022 in a major boost for Jurgen Klopp.
Arsenal have been embroiled in protracted contract negotiations with Ozil and Sanchez over the past couple of months as the Gunners pair look to secure a significant pay increase.
Ozil and Sanchez are reportedly earning £140,000 a week but the Germany midfielder and Chile forward are looking to secure a new wage packet in the region of £250,000 a week.
Speaking about Liverpool’s success in tying doing Coutinho to a new long-term deal, ex-Arsenal midfielder Parlour spoke of his confidence that the Gunners would get deals done for Ozil and Sanchez.
“The money Coutinho signed for is probably what Sanchez is on now. You’re looking at £300-250,00 a week that Sanchez is demanding. They’ve got to make a big decision,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
“Ozil is the same. Whether you keep your best players. It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens. I’m sure they’ll be working very hard behind the scenes with their negotiators to try and get a deal for both sides that suits everybody.
“It is important because Arsenal are in a great position going forward and they’ve got to keep their best players.”
Arsenal are in second place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
