Ex-midfielder: Why I really think Chelsea star can become club’s greatest-ever player
Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole talks up Eden Hazard...
Eden Hazard has the potential to go down as Chelsea’s greatest-ever player, according to Joe Cole.
The Belgium international has rediscovered his best form under Antonio Conte this season following the Italian’s appointment as Guus Hiddink’s permanent successor last year.
Hazard has scored nine times and has made three assists in 21 games in the Premier League this season to help the Blues underline their status as genuine title contenders.
The Chelsea forward was named the PFA player of the year in 2015 after Hazard scored 14 times in 38 appearances to fire the west London side to title glory in 2014-15.
Hazard struggled to carry that form into the 2015-16 season as the Belgian made a meek defence of their title.
However, the Chelsea forward is now back to his best as the former Lille man closes in on a second Premier League title.
Speaking to CFC Fan TV, former Blues midfielder Cole made a huge claim about Hazard ahead of their next league clash against title rivals Liverpool at Anfield next Tuesday night.
“I think I’ve said it on record before but I think he’ll go down as Chelsea’s greatest player,” Cole said.
“He’s certainly the most talented all-round footballer I’ve played with and he’s already a hero with the fans.
“I hope he stays there for the rest of his career. I was so happy when he signed for Chelsea.”
