Gary Cahill: How Antonio Conte is influencing the Chelsea players
The Chelsea defender explains how Antonio Conte is rubbing off on the Blues players
Gary Cahill has revealed that Antonio Conte’s influence is rubbing off on the Chelsea players ahead of their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
The Blues recorded a 13th successive Premier League win on New Year’s Eve thanks to a dramatic 4-2 victory over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from Gary Cahill, Willian and Diego Costa sealed an emphatic win to leave the west London side six points clear at the top of the table.
Chelsea haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 3-0 loss to title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September.
Conte took over the reins the west London outfit in the summer after their disappointing tenth-place finish last term.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website after their 4-2 win against Stoke on New Year’s Eve, Cahill lifted the lid on Conte’s influence on the Chelsea squad.
“He’s rubbing off on us. We all like that, we all want to go out and work hard for each other. It starts from the manager and the team he has behind him, we just want to keep it going,” Cahill told Chelsea’s website.
“We want to be a part of records, every players wants that. We want to go again and try to break it but to do that you have to work hard.”
Chelsea will make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night as the Blues look to record a record-equalling 14 successive Premier League wins.
