Gary Cahill names Chelsea’s best trainer under Antonio Conte: He works hard all the time
The Chelsea defender names the best trainer at the Premier League leaders
Gary Cahill says Cesar Azpilicueta is the hardest worker in training under Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
The Blues have the second-best defence in the Premier League this season after conceding a mere 15 goals in 21 games in the 2016-17 campaign so far.
Azpilicueta and Cahill have formed part of Chelsea’s formidable back three alongside summer signing David Luiz.
The trio helped Conte’s side go on an impressive 13-game winning run in the Premier League to leave the west London outfit clear of their closest rivals in the title race.
Chelsea bounced back with a 3-0 win at defending champions Leicester City last weekend after the Blues suffered their first defeat in 14 outings at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
Discussing the best trainer at Stamford Bridge during his five years at Chelsea, Cahill singled out versatile Spanish defender Azpilicueta for praise.
“Recently, I’d say Cesar Azpilicueta because he just works hard all the time. He has that work ethic everybody should have,” Cahill told Chelsea’s website.
“But over the years there have been loads here and that’s why we’ve had success, because we’ve had characters who are willing to work and improve.”
Cahill moved to Chelsea in an £11m deal from Bolton Wanderers in the 2011 summer transfer window.
The Blues are seven points clear of second-place Tottenham in the title race.
