Gary Neville delivers honest verdict on Tottenham display

Gary Neville singles out Tottenham's 1-0 loss to Manchester United as Spurs' most disappointing display of the campaign

Gary Neville has admitted that Tottenham’s most disappointing performance of the season came during Spurs’ 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Lilywhites have earned plenty of praise for their performances under Mauricio Pochettino in recent months.

Spurs are widely regarded to be one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League and were one of the top-flights best sides last season as they ended up in third place in the table.

Tottenham headed to Old Trafford in early December but it was Manchester United who claimed all three points when Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal handed the home side victory.

And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that was the Lilywhites’ most disappointing display of the campaign so far.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, Neville said: “The most disappointing performance I’ve seen from Tottenham was here [at Old Trafford] when Manchester United beat them 1-0. They didn’t turn up.

“That was a surprising performance but they’re back on track again.”
