Gary Neville delivers thorough verdict on Man United ahead of Liverpool clash
Gary Neville has his say about Manchester United's recent upturn in form under new boss Jose Mourinho
Gary Neville believes that there are plenty of reasons for encouragement at Manchester United this season following their upturn in form under Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils have been in much improved form in recent weeks and have now won their last six games in the Premier League in a row.
Their latest victory was a 2-0 win at West Ham United on Monday night as they moved to within 10 points of leaders Chelsea ahead of the Blues’ trip to Tottenham on Wednesday.
Manchester United had initially struggled to find their feet under Mourinho at Old Trafford but now seem to be clicking into gear under their new boss.
And former Red Devils defender Neville has been very encouraged about what he has seen from Manchester United in recent weeks.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United’s win at West Ham, Neville said: “They’re getting better.
“They’re a lot better than they were last season, don’t let anybody tell you any different.
“The team’s better, it’s got more arrogance, more personality. And in the last two games they’ve started to win a little bit more like Manchester United [of old] used to win.
“The win against Tottenham at home was very big and I think it helped them believe that they could see games out. Since then, it’s been all good.
“Things are looking a lot better for Manchester United going into the new year than two months ago.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
