Gary Neville delivers great verdict on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

The Manchester United legend gives his seal of approval to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Gary Neville has hailed Jurgen Klopp’s impact at Liverpool over the past 20 months.

The former Borussia Dortmund head coach took over the reins of Liverpool back in October 2015 after Klopp was confirmed as Brendan Rodgers’ replacement.

The 49-year-old led Liverpool to an eighth-place finish in his first season, while the Reds lost to Manchester City and Sevilla in the League Cup and Europa League finals.

However, Klopp has since transformed the Merseyside outfit into title contenders with some shrewd summer signings, although his new goalkeeper Loris Karius has been criticised for some erratic performances.

Indeed, the Liverpool manager hit out at Neville after the Manchester United legend’s criticism of the German shot stopper.

Speaking to the Gary Neville podcast earlier this week, the ex-England coach didn’t appear to hold a grudge after he heaped praise on the Liverpool manager.

“It has been a fantastic 18-20 months from Klopp, it really has. He’s done a great job,” Neville said.

Second-placed Liverpool will make the trip to Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday 15 January.
