Gary Neville picks man of the match in Arsenal’s win over Palace
Gary Neville praises Olivier Giroud for his brilliant goal in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday
Gary Neville heaped praise on Olivier Giroud for creating a “world-class” moment to help fire Arsenal to a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
The French striker scored a superb scorpion goal in the 17th minute to put the north London side ahead at The Emirates as he flicked the ball into the top corner.
Alex Iwobi then added a second in the 56th minute at The Emirates when he headed a loose ball into the net off the crossbar.
But it was Giroud’s incredible strike which stole the show for the Gunners as the forward helped to fire Arsenal to victory.
And former Manchester United defender Neville explained why he picked Giroud as his man of the match ahead of Hector Bellerin.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ live coverage of the game, Neville said: “Bellerin’s been excellent but it can only go to one man for a quite outstanding goal.
“Olivier Giroud is the man of the match for a world-class moment in this game.”
The win lifted Arsenal up into third place in the Premier League table and left them nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
