Gary Neville reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool
The Manchester United legend has his say on the 1-1 stalemate between the bitter Premier League rivals
Gary Neville felt both Liverpool and Manchester United deserved a point after Sunday afternoon’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba wasted Manchester United’s best chance to make the breakthrough in the first half before the world’s most-expensive player conceded a penalty with a handball from James Milner’s corner.
The Liverpool vice-captain broke the deadlock from the spot in emphatic style as he placed his finish past David De Gea in the 27th minute at Old Trafford.
Manchester United brought on Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata in the second half in search of an equaliser but it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who scored his tenth goal in last 10 games to draw the home side level.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the 1-1 stalemate, former Manchester United defender Neville felt a draw was a fair result after a pulsating affair at Old Trafford.
“I don’t either team played their best. It’s been a struggle of a game. Liverpool will be happy with a point,” Neville said.
“Jurgen Klopp is congratulating his players. They had a little stumble the last few weeks. Mignolet was fantastic. You’d probably say even stevens is right.”
Liverpool will host struggling Swansea City in their next Premier League clash at Anfield next Saturday.
Manchester United, on the other hand, will make the trip to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
Liverpool and Manchester United played out a goalless draw earlier this season at Anfield.
