Gary Neville reacts to Wayne Rooney's record-breaking goal for Manchester United

Gary Neville congratulated Wayne Rooney on becoming Manchester United’s record goal-scorer on Saturday afternoon after the club captain scored a dramatic equaliser in Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Stoke City.

The Red Devils skipper became Manchester United’s leading goal-scorer after the 31-year-old netted in the fourth minute of added time to take his tally to 250 goals for the 20-time English champions.

Rooney’s stunning effort cancelled out David De Gea’s own goal to secure a point at the Britannia Stadium for Jose Mourinho’s side and close ground on Liverpool following their 3-2 loss to Swansea City at Anfield.

With 15 minutes to go and both Salford City and Manchester United losing, Neville made a vow to stay off Twitter for the rest of the weekend unless the results dramatically changed.

However, Neville wasted no time taking to social media to fire off a series of tweets following Rooney’s record-breaking equaliser at Stoke.

Rooney equalled Sir Bobby Charlton’s record earlier this month when the captain scored in Manchester United’s 4-0 win against Reading in the FA Cup third round.
