Gary Neville suggests this Man United player will be key against Liverpool
Gary Neville says Zlatan Ibrahimovic could have a huge role to play for Manchester United against Liverpool on Sunday
Gary Neville believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could end up playing a key role for Manchester United in Sunday’s clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
The Swedish striker has earned plenty of praise for his fine form for the Red Devils this season following his arrival at the club from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.
There had been suggestions that Ibrahimovic may have struggled to cope with the rigours of the Premier League given that he is approaching the twilight years of his career.
However, the 35-year-old has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up and has repaid Jose Mourinho’s faith in him by scoring 13 Premier League goals.
Neville believes that Ibrahimovic has had a huge impact at Manchester United this season and feels that keeping him quiet will be key for Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “The personality and character of Ibrahimovic is having a massive impact upon the players in the United dressing room.
“You talk about managers having an influence in the dressing room, but when they’re out on the pitch, Ibrahimovic’s influence is huge.
“It feels like Liverpool will have to handle his personality and character on Sunday.”
Manchester United head into the game having won their last six games on the spin in the Premier League.
