Gary Neville: This shows Jose Mourinho is getting his magic back at Man United
The former Manchester United defender examines Jose Mourinho's recent upturn in fortunes at Old Trafford
Gary Neville has highlighted that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is starting to influence Premier League games again.
The Red Devils made a slow start to life under their new manager after Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s replacement in the summer.
The Manchester United boss signed four players in the summer transfer window, including world-record signing Paul Pogba in an £89m deal from Juventus.
However, the 20-time English champions managed to win just twice in 11 Premier League games to leave the Red Devils well off the pace in the title race.
But Mourinho’s side won their sixth successive Premier League game thanks to a 2-0 win against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Monday night.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over the Hammers, the club’s former defender highlighted Mourinho’s recent improvement.
“Jose Mourinho had it tough a couple of months ago, he was being rubbished and questioned – had he lost his magic? But he’s certainly starting to influence games again. His substitutions [on Monday night] were really good and made a big impact on the game.”
Manchester United are two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal after Arsene Wenger’s side came from 3-0 down to rescue a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
