German defender reacts to Bastian Schweinsteiger’s display in Man United’s 4-0 win over Wigan
Bayern defender Jerome Boateng sent a message to Bastian Schweinsteiger after midfielder's Manchester United goal
Jerome Boateng has sent a message of congratulations to Bastian Schweinsteiger after the midfielder scored in Manchester United’s 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The German midfielder was handed his first start of the current campaign in all competitions for the visit of the Latics after the Bayern Munich legend fell out-of-favour under new manager Jose Mourinho.
However, the Manchester United manager opted to start the experienced midfielder for the fourth-round tie at Old Trafford and Schweinsteiger repaid his coach’s faith with their fourth goal.
The World Cup winner used his experience to guide a finish into the net with nine minutes remaining at Old Trafford.
And his former Bayern and Germany team-mate Boateng took to his Twitter page to send a special message to Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger scored his first Manchester United goal in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at King Power Stadium in 2015-16 season.
The German legend moved to Old Trafford in a £6.7m deal from Bayern in 2015.
