Graeme Souness makes title claim about Chelsea after Tottenham defeat

Graeme Souness reflects on Chelsea's 2-0 loss to Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night

Graeme Souness has claimed that Chelsea’s loss to Tottenham on Wednesday night will not hamper their Premier League title bid.

The west London side slumped to a disappointing 2-0 loss at the hands of the Lilywhites on Wednesday at White Hart Lane as Dele Alli scored either side of half-time to hand Spurs victory.

Chelsea are still flying high at the top of the Premier League table and are five points clear of second-placed Liverpool after 20 games of the new season.

The Blues had won their last 13 games on the spin heading into Wednesday’s game to firmly establish themselves as the favourites to win the title.

However, Souness feels that the Blues are unlikely to suffer too much following the defeat by the Lilywhites at White Hart Lane.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Wednesday’s game, Souness said: “Chelsea are a very good team. They will come back from this.

“There was nothing between the teams tonight other than two great crosses from Christian Eriksen and two well-timed headers from Dele Alli.

“That was two very good teams playing against each other. It’s very hard to separate them.”
