Graeme Souness reacts to Paul Pogba’s display in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Man United
Graeme Souness criticises Paul Pogba for his disappointing first-half showing for Manchester United against Liverpool
Graeme Souness was highly critical of Paul Pogba’s first-half performance during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The French midfielder struggled to do his defensive duties properly in the first half at Old Trafford and ended up conceding the penalty which led to James Milner’s opener when he handled the ball from a corner.
Manchester United managed to earn a point, however, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored from close range in the 84th minute at Old Trafford.
Pogba did not have his best afternoon for the Red Devils as Manchester United were forced to settle for a point against their bitter local rivals.
And former Liverpool star Souness had his say about the summer signing after the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Souness said: “Pogba must have sat down at half-time and had a quiet word with himself for five minutes.
“In the first half he was all over the place. He was giving daft free-kicks and [gave] a penalty away. He was gifting possession. He was all over the place. He played a bit better in the second half.”
The result left Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table, while Manchester United are sixth and 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
