Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends message to Man United fans after Liverpool draw
Henrikh Mkhitaryan insists that Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League was not a bad result for the Red Devils
Henrikh Mkhitaryan insisted that Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday was not a bad result for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils had to come from a goal down to earn a point against the Reds as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late goal cancelled out James Milner’s penalty at Old Trafford.
Manchester United were hoping to win the game to keep themselves in the race for the Premier League title but ended the afternoon 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are now third in the table and seven points behind the leaders as Antonio Conte’s men stretched their lead at the top of the pile.
However, Mkhitaryan has insisted that there were plenty of positives for the Red Devils after the draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website after the game, Mkhitaryan said: “The score was 1-1 at the end so we were pushing up a bit, trying to find the net for the second time but unfortunately we couldn’t.
“So 1-1 is not a bad result because we are still very close to the top four and we will do our best in the next games.”
Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season under Louis van Gaal.
