Henrikh Mkhitaryan: What I like about Man United partnership with Anthony Martial

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has talked up his understanding with Manchester United forward Anthony Martial

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has talked up his partnership with Manchester United striker Anthony Martial after their dominant performance in a 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round.

Marouane Fellaini broke the deadlock in the first half before Chris Smalling extended the home side’s lead to help the Premier League side edge a step closer to the fifth round at Old Trafford.

The Armenia international scored his first FA Cup goal to make it 3-0 before World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger completed the rout with nine minutes remaining in the FA Cup clash.

Mkhitaryan has now scored four goals in all competitions for the 20-time English champions following his £30m switch from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website following their emphatic win in the FA Cup, Mkhitaryan spoke about his understanding with Martial during the one-sided clash.

“It was a nice counterattack,” Mkhitaryan said. “We [Henrikh and Anthony] link up with each other well. It was a good ball from him and I was happy to finish it off. Hopefully, we can create and score more goals like that as the season carries on.”

Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table but 14 points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
