Michael Owen states prediction for Hull City v Man United
The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen is backing the Red Devils to beat Hull City
Michael Owen believes Manchester United will get past Hull City on Thursday night in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at KCOM Stadium.
The Red Devils were 2-0 winners in the first leg at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini in the second half.
Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 17 games in a run that stretches back to November when Fenerbahce were 2-1 winners against Jose Mourinho’s side.
The 20-time English champions won the FA Cup at Wembley last season after an extra-time win against Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace side.
Writing in his BetVictor column ahead of the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen backed the Red Devils to ease to victory over the Tigers.
“United are unbeaten in their last 13 games against Hull in all competitions and I can’t see the Tigers turning around the two-goal deficit from the first leg,” Owen said.
“If the hosts don’t score early I can see the tie petering out with Premier League survival remaining the main objective for Hull whose next two league fixtures are against non-other than United at home and Liverpool away!”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 14 points adrift of leaders Chelsea in the title race.
The Red Devils will host Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round.
