Ian Wright identifies Arsenal’s weak link ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Wilfried Zaha could exploit Gabriel Paulista on New Year's Day
Ian Wright has identified Gabriel Paulista as Arsenal’s weak link ahead of the visit of Crystal Palace at The Emirates on New Year’s Day.
The Gunners made a return to winning ways on Boxing Day after Olivier Giroud netted an 86th-minute winner in a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
Arsenal had lost their previous two Premier League games 2-1 against Everton and Manchester City to leave the title prospects in doubt.
Gabriel started at right centre-half for the visit of the Baggies as the Brazilian continues to deputise for summer signing Shkodran Mustafi.
Wilfried Zaha has been in good form for the Eagles this season after a return of three goals and six assists in 16 Premier League games.
Speaking on The Sun Goals podcast ahead of Arsenal’s home clash against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, Wright highlighted Gabriel as a potential weakness in the Gunners side.
“On the left side, Wilf could cause problems. Personally, I’d have Wilf on the side where he can cut into Gabriel. Gabriel is a weak link at the moment,” Wright said.
Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind champions Leicester City.
