Ian Wright reacts to key decision in Man United’s 2-1 loss at Hull

The Arsenal legend has a chuckle at Manchester United's expense after the first-half penalty

Ian Wright felt Hull City were fortunate to get a first-half penalty as Manchester United progressed to the EFL Cup final despite the Tigers’s 2-1 win on Thursday night.

The Tigers made a positive start to the second leg of their EFL Cup as Marco Silva’s side looked to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the Old Trafford leg.

Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini got on the score sheet in the first leg but it was Hull who made the breakthrough at the KCOM Stadium.

Marcos Rojo was penalised for bringing down Harry Maguire and former Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone dispatched his penalty with aplomb.

Paul Pogba levelled in the second half with a close-range finish to restore Manchester United’s two-goal cushion on aggregate before Oumar Niasse’s late strike.

Former Arsenal striker Wright felt that Hull were fortunate to earn a spot-kick despite the Tigers being denied a clear penalty at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Manchester United will take on Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.
