Ian Wright has suggested that Arsenal do not need to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

The north London side have inevitably been linked with a number of players this month now that the mid-season window is open but no deals have been officially confirmed.

Arsene Wenger has been remaining typically coy about Arsenal’s transfer plans this month following the Gunners’ mixed form in recent weeks.

Arsenal welcomed Danny Welbeck back to their team on Saturday night as the England striker came on as a second-half substitute during the 2-1 FA Cup win over Preston at Deepdale.

Summer signing Lucas Perez also earned praise for his performance in the cup clash on Saturday.

And Wright feels that Arsenal will not need to buy a new forward in January to boost their Premier League title hopes.

Asked if Arsenal need to sign a striker in January, Wright told BT Sport on Saturday night: “I think at the moment they have enough for now to maintain a challenge.

“They’ve got Lucas Perez as well, who had a half-decent game at Preston.

“Hopefully Danny [Welbeck] will remain fit until the end of the season because he will definitely contribute goals to this team.”
