Insider reveals Arsenal not interested in Sevilla midfielder in January
Guillem Balague pours cold water on talk of Arsenal making a move for Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi in the January transfer window
Arsenal aren’t looking to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi in the January transfer window, according to Guillem Balague.
The France midfielder has been in impressive form for the La Liga side in the 2016-17 campaign so far after a return of two goals and one assist in 15 appearances.
The Sunday Express reported that Arsenal are set to do battle with Chelsea and Manchester City for the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder in the January transfer window.
N’Zonzi has blossomed into a key player in the Sevilla side since his move to the La Liga club from Stoke City in 2015 and won the Europa League in his first season at the club.
However, Sky Sports reporter and La Liga expert Balague has claimed that Arsenal and Manchester City aren’t looking to sign the defensive midfielder in the January transfer window.
“N’Zonzi is another name that has been mentioned but he doesn’t want to go now. He has a £30m buyout clause. That will be a fight in the summer,” Balague told Sky Sports News HQ.
“Manchester City and Arsenal have been linked with him but they’re not interested in January.”
Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea after their 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
