Insider’s response when asked if Chelsea could sign Alvaro Morata
Guillem Balague discusses reports linking Alvaro Morata with a move to Chelsea in the near future
Chelsea could sign Alvaro Morata to replace Diego Costa in the summer, according to Guillem Balague.
The Blues striker was reported to have fallen out with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte about interest from Chelsea amid speculation that Costa was offered a £400,000 a week deal.
The La Liga expert claims that both Chelsea and Costa would be open to a transfer in the summer, hinting that a return to Atletico Madrid could be on the cards.
Conte signed Real Madrid striker Morata for Juventus before standing down as manager at the Turin outfit in 2014 to take over the reins of the Italy national team.
The Spain international has since completed a move back to the Spanish capital with los Blancos but has been touted as a potential target to replace Costa.
Asked about the possibility of Morata going to Stamford Bridge in the summer during a Q&A session with Sky Sports, Balague replied:
“Alvaro Morata wants to leave the Bernabeu as he feels he is not being treated properly.
“He knows there are teams in England and Italy that want him. Plus, the Diego Costa issue means both player and Chelsea would be happy with a transfer at the end of the season and Atletico would love to get him back.
“Early days, of course, but the summer will be very exciting.”
Chelsea are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
